HP Autloader 1/8 Autoclean feature
I'm on the phone with HP and I'm being told that the autoclean feature of the autoloader does not work with LTO4 drives. Is this true? Why is it advertised that there is an autoclean feature, but yet doesn't work?
My issue is that I insert a cleaning media tape into the autoloader, but it recognizes it as a standard LTO4 data tape. The Auto clean status always says "No Cleaning Tape!" Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks.

Re: HP Autloader 1/8 Autoclean feature
I supposed you have a 1/8 Ultrium 1760 G2 autoloader right ?
What cleaning cartridge are you using ?
Do you have a barcode label on that cartridge ? What brand ?
What the firmware version does the autoloader have ?

Re: HP Autloader 1/8 Autoclean feature
Yes, it is an Ultrium 1760.
I have a standard Sony LTO Universal Cleaning Cartridge.
It has a standard 8 character barcode label. Quantum brand.
The firmware is reading 2.10/1.90n.
After looking into this further it seems that the issue is because I'm using a standard data barcode rather then a dedicated cleaning media barcode. I'll order some cleaning media barcodes and will test further.

Re: HP Autloader 1/8 Autoclean feature
I recommend you to buy hp media and barcodes
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/storage/tapestorage/storagemedia/tape_ultrium/models.html
Also I dont recomend you to have autocleaning because if for any reason you get an error like CRC, then autocleaning will clean the drive but the error wont get away so it will continiusly clean the drive and that will damage the heads, clen your drive only when the cleaning LED is light.
