HP Autoloader 818

Just wondering is there any documentation in HP on how to configure DLT 818 autoloader in a Solaris 8 environment.

What should be put in the st.conf file?

Re: HP Autoloader 818

Hi,
You can try the following, it is from the DataProtector manual.

add the following lines to the /kernel/drv/st.conf file:

tape-config-list =
"QUANTUM DLT8000", "Quantum DLT8000", "DLT8k-data",
DLT8k-data = 1,0x77,0,0x1D639,4,0x84,0x85,0x88,0x89,3;

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Do I have to set specific scsi id because currenlty the autoloader is using scsi 4 and drive is using 6.

Hi,

actually without adding those line the drive can be detected and used by omniback as a standalone dlt drive but the robotics arms is the one I am facing the problem.

Re: HP Autoloader 818

Solaris doesn't support robotic libraries by default, so needs additional software to help it; although Sol 8 does have a generic SCSI driver now - man -s7d sgen.

You don't say what backup software, if any, you are using. Each product (Omniback, Veritas, Legato, etc) comes with its own device driver and installation documentation.

If you want an open-source solution, try mtx at: http://mtx.badtux.net/

Re: HP Autoloader 818

oops - just noticed you are using Omniback. HP provide a SCSI driver as part of the media agent for Solaris.

Installation instructions are in the install guide chapter 2, but basically involves adding the sst driver and rebooting. This will give a device file that OB can use to control the library.
