In an Omniback environment, HP branded STK L700 library, SDLT drives, is a mix of DLT8000 created media (DLT IV) and SDLT media supported? SDLT BRC should be OK, main issue is can Omniback handle this? Can the DLT8K volumes be marked "read-only" and excluded from scratch use? Direct new write activity to SDLT exclusively.

Hi,
I don't see why this won't work. If you
intend to use this media for read-only,
suggest you change the protection of
the media to permanent within the database.
Changing the write-protection on the tape
itself I am sure will cause more problems.
Cheers

Re: HP Branded L700 Library, SDLT and DLT 8000
Bernie,
There should not be any problem with doing what you want there. I would sugest creating two media pools in OB. The one pool would have permanent protection and be all your 8k media, while the other pool would be all your "writeable" media, with whatever protection you want on it. OB shouldn't really care what the media is as long as the drive doesn't reject it.
