HP C1537A tape storage ...

on a different DAT24 tapes C1537A reports about read-write error. Before all was ok. And on the face panel orange LED is blinking. Is it means that drive has corrupted and needs in a service ?

Re: HP C1537A tape storage ...

The blinking yellow LED means that the drive has R/W problems and usually needs cleaning.

You should use cleaning cartridge once / week. If you haven't used a cleaning cartridge with the drive, run it for 5 times in a row even if the led goes out.

Thank. I`ve just cleaned up tape-storage 5 times. But yellow LED is blinkink again. When tape in the drive yellow LED blinking (green lights permanently). ARCserver message that media is write-protected - but it false. We allways cleaning drive at changing tapes (2 times on month). I think it needs in service.

Hi.

The blinking led can also come if you have a poor SCSI bus.

Download HP Library and Tape Tools (http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/support_doc/lpg50128.html), run the tests, mail support ticket to ltt-log-europe@hp.com and call the support center. They can help you on determining where the actual failure is.

Hi.

Take a look on the backup logs. What's the data transfer rate on a bu operation?
