HP C5683-00625 - Windows drivers available?

I have a DDS4 tape drive removed from a Sun server. It has HP model number C5683-00625. Are Windows drivers available for this drive?

That link is for the C5685. Is that drive equivalent to my C5683 drive?

Driver should be the same as soon as both are DDS4 (DAT40) devices. They may even have the same mechs inside the casing

Thanks. Just one more question: what's the preferred Adaptec adapter for this drive? I recall seeing this info somewhere on the HP site, but now can't find it.

Hi,

HP recommends the C7474A scsi HBA kit. This is Ultra 3 Wide PCI HBA card. A quick search on hp.com should find you a link to this.

Cheers,

I noticed on the list of recommended adapters that a 2940UW was listed for "non-LVD" mode. Does that mean that my tape drive (the C5683-00625) will run in both LVD and non-LVD mode?

Yes, your drive is backward compatible and if connected to SE SCSI controller 2940UW drive will operate in SE mode. If connected to LVD 29160 controller it will operate in LVD mode
