Colorado Jumbo 350, Windows 98, HP backup II V. 7.0 Build LTO 225B10D. Whenever I try to format a tape I get a media error 0C-09-17-01-0000. What does this mean? I can read from the tapes and restore the files, but I can not reformat or backup any more

Hello.
Formatting failure. Uninstall SW, clear windows registry of "ghosts" and reinstall.
CBII errors, see http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/support_doc/lpg13228.html
Cheers,
Arimo.

Re: HP Colorado Backup media error
I was able to get the drive to format the tape by removing the tape device from the system device page and rebooting. The first time Windows recognized it as a QIC-40 device. I removed it again and restarted windows. This time it was recognized as a QIC-80 device. I disabled the burst on the tape drive property page. Formatting completed and I was able to backup again.
