HP DLT VS80 goes Offline
We seem to have a re-occurring problem where the dlt tape drive (external) will go offline
The only way we have been able to get them back online is to power cycle the server
We are using Arcserve today
We have power cycled the tape drive but this does not resolve the issue
Is there a utility outside of Arcserve that we can use to put the tape drive back online?
Any ideas?

Re: HP DLT VS80 goes Offline
hi
the drive do not go offline by itself, usualy the driver put the drive ofline due to serious problems on hte communication with it.
I would suggest to check in the event log of the server for any scsi error, if there are, check for bad cable, terninator, and loose connections.
Check also for good power and grounding to the Tape

Re: HP DLT VS80 goes Offline
Thanks for the feedback
I am getting a SCSI error in the event log as well on the server.
We seem to be getting this offline issue with external and internal drives
I am beginning to suspect the HP driver has a bug. These are 6 month old servers with new tape drives.
Thanks
Rob M
