HP Dat 72x6 Medium Changer not recognized

Hi,

I am trying to get the HP Dat 72x6 medium changer installed without success.

The SCSI adapter _does_ support LUN and I can the the drive's driver twice, one on LUN 0 and one on LUN 1 but I am unable to change the driver for either of them to the medium changer driver.

What am I doing wrong?

Sorry but I do not well understand where is your problem.

At boot time (or in the scsi bios utility) you should see both devices lun0 and lun1 on the same scsi id, one refered as drive and one refered as changer.

Then in your os you should see a generic media changer and a dat72 (you need to install drivers for the dat) it they appear, you can run L&TT and check for installation, or run test and see if you can move cartridges

Sorry for being unclear.

In Windows device manager I see the

"Hewlett Packard DAT72x6 Autoloader"

device twice (one for LUN 0 and one for LUN 1), but I do not see the

"HP Dat 72x6 Medium Changer"

device nor do I see a generic medium changer device. Also it is not possible to change the driver to the medium changer driver. In L&TT I see the device twice, too, but no changer device.

ok, is it a internal or a n external unit?
I would suggest to check for bad cables or terminator(Bent/broken pins). if it is an internal unit, be sure you have a cable with terminator. Try to connect the unit to another HBA (not a raid controller)
