HP Internal DAT 24 blinking amber
We have an HP Internal DAT 24 tape drive installed on a Unix server. The drive is about 3-4 years old. Recently the amber light has started blinking constantly.
I replaced the media, purchased a cleaning cartridge, reset the drive but no luck.
It's hard to troubleshoot because the unix operating system's logs do not show anything abnormal with regards to the tape drive.
any ideas?
if we do need to replace the drive which drive should we get that is compatible with the media? (HP dds-3 24GB cartridge. C5708A)
thanx!

Re: HP Internal DAT 24 blinking amber
Install L&TT for Unix and run the tests, it will tell you what is the problem and if you can fix it.
If you need to replace the unit, you can buy the DAT 40 or DAT 72, both have r/w compatibility with the DAT 24 format and cartridges
