HP Library C7200-8000 not work on Compaq Proliant

I have check the scsi-connection to the Library on the internal controller from compaq proliant 3000 also on smart array 3200...

During boot I cant see robotic or drive on the controller.
Also single contact (only drive or only robotic) helps...

The controller hove no other devices, the library is set to id 2 and 3...

Any idea ???

Rainer

Re: HP Library C7200-8000 not work on Compaq Proliant

Hi Rainer,

The on-board SCSI controller of the ProLiant 3000 does not support robotic tape devices, only standalone drives (it doesn't have the robot control commands in the firmware). The Smart Array 3200 does not support any tape devices at all.

You can add a separate SCSI HBA for a library. (eg. C7474A, a single channel ultra160 SCSI BHA, or the 268351-B21 dual channel Ultra320 controller)

Frank

Re: HP Library C7200-8000 not work on Compaq Proliant

Hi Frank,

thanks for your message!

Ok I understand, but i also test the drive stand-alone (without the cable to the robotic controller and with the terminator on the drive) and also no device is visible during boot-scan from the controller...

Have the drive other firmware, so that the internal controller cant see this?
I can no believe this...

Re: HP Library C7200-8000 not work on Compaq Proliant

Hi Rainer,

There is two interface version of C7200-8000, one is LVD, the other is HVD

If the one you are using is a HVD one, you need a HVD controller in order to see it.

If you have a LVD/SE it should appear at boot on any standard scsi controller, if not, check for bad cables/terminators
