HP MSL 4048
I have a HP MSL 4048 Library with 3 LTO5 drives. All drivers and firmware are up to date. A single HBA dedicated for tape traffic. Using single initiator single target zoning. HBA, Switch ports and drives all hard set to 8GB.
The problem is drives keep disappearing in Windows (2008R2).
I have also tried auto negotiate accross the devices as well, the same issue returns.
I have also tried changing the controll path to differnt drives...no luck.
Anyone experience this before?

Re: HP MSL 4048
You should visite HP S.P.O.K for valid configurations. Maybe a driver problem?
However, a single server port would be too slow to feed 3 tape drives with 8Gb/s each at the same time anyway.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP MSL 4048
It should be the Single Point Of Knowledge, but it isn't.
The site is called Single Point Of Connectivity Knowledge, but there are more than a single site.
Correct links in this case are
Compatibility Matrices document and EBS Design Guide located at: www.hp.com/go/ebs.

Hope this helps!

Re: HP MSL 4048
Hello,
I have the same problem with MSL4048 2x FC-LTO5 (3000) Drives and Windows 2012. Firmware of MSL and FC-HBA are current, QLogic HBA FW 7.03.00, Driver 9.1.11.28. My old MSL2024 with FC-LTO4 works fine.
The drives disconnected from SAN Switch. The TX light from the drives shutdown. There are no other errors in the environment.
These events occur after round about 40 Days. After Power Down and Power On the drive over the GUI everything is fine and the drive come back in Windows.
Both drives have been replaced. My HP call is open and I wait for the next event to take the trace logs.
