HP MSL 5000: both dirves LEDs are lit and initializing

I have an MSL 5000 with two ultrium LTO-1 drives. When powered on, the MSL initializes properly but both drives LEDs (Ready, Drive&tape error) are steady lit and their status "Initializing". Testing each drive alone: same problem. Testing a good drive: it works properly (so the controllers are OK). I agree that one drive may fails but both ones at the same time ??? any help please?

What did you do until now? Playing with (wrong) firmware files?

...it is another library. For info, i am working in support with an HP reseller since 1991: i agree with you if HP is inventing wrong firmwares (??) how should i know? I did use HP LTT (latest revision) with latest firmwares: do you think that you can upgrade a device from within LTT with a wrong firmware revision? if so: good luck HP!!!

You mentioned your attempt to upgrade firmware in another way - not using LTT - in your other thread.

Replacing pico fuse (2A) on one drive: it is working now. On the second drive: the same pico fuse was blown up but it seems that more components are also blown up (i will replace it). Thank you.
