HP Shurestore 4/40 Firmware Update failed
I recently tried to update the firmware of a HP 4/40 Jukebox via HP LT&T. After the Jukebox has successfully downloaded the new firmware HP LT&T sets a timeout of 840 seconds for the Jukebox to become available again.
But after 840 seconds the Jukebox still lighted amber with no content on display.
After restart suggested by LT&T the jukebox wasn┬┤t even recognized by scsi hba.
Is there any chance of getting this jukebox running again?
TIA
Stefan

Re: HP Shurestore 4/40 Firmware Update failed
i tried scanning with HP LT&T once again and it found the jukebox. The device is named "Download B 0.9"
LT&T ist working in restricted mode and tells the jukebox is on revision B0.9. I think this is the boot loader which has no valid firmware to boot. I tried to update to the new firmware, but the process fails after uploading the files. According to LT&T logs the update process fails due to I/O Errors.
I think there are some pending downloads to the jukebox which are blocking any new updates.
Any suggestions?

Re: HP Shurestore 4/40 Firmware Update failed
1) if you are on 1140 or earlier, you have to upgrade to 1220, then to the latest (LTT should IMHO tell you this).
2) Some of the older libs only have 4MB flash RAM - too less to store later firmware.
Pull out the controller board and check for one of these numbers:
C7200-89100 or C7200-89101
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP Shurestore 4/40 Firmware Update failed
I looked on the card for the code and found the following:
C7200-60001
So I assume that this is the card with 4 MB :-/

Re: HP Shurestore 4/40 Firmware Update failed
Try to install the 11xx version again:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/information_storage/software/ltt/firmware/LTT_C7200-8000_1140.frm
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP Shurestore 4/40 Firmware Update failed
In case the old download is still blocking the jukebox; Is there any possibility to "clean" the jukebox?
