HP Storage Data Protector A05.50 with Ultrium Autoloader
1)I am using the Data Protector software with the HP storage work Autoloader 1/8(Ultrium). Question, can the backup be define so that a client can be point to a media? For example, I have 3 client to be backup, I want client no 1 to backup to media 1(slot 1) and Client 2 to be backup to meadia 2 (slot 2) etc. Can this be done in automatic mode? That is after the back up was done for Client no 1, the tape loader will unload the tape automatically and load the second tape/media for back up. Can anyone provide the steps in doing it.
2) Where can I find information on labelling the backup tape with barcode for easy managing of the tape?
3) Does anyone encounter the following error:
Cannot Connect to the SCM {Service Control Manager} on the remote client [5]
Access Denied
110:1021 Already connect to client.
Appriciate for the help.

Re: HP Storage Data Protector A05.50 with Ultrium Autoloader
Chris,
1) you would need to setup individual Backup Specifications for each client and a Media Pool for each client to separate it the way you want to (but why?)
2) you can buy barcode labels from HP but I'm afraid the 1/8 Autoloader does not have a barcode reader
3) no idea
for more information download manuals here:

I would suggest you start with the Administrator's Guide
Regards,
Bernhard

Re: HP Storage Data Protector A05.50 with Ultrium Autoloader
Hi,
Another way is to use pre-alloc media lists (see DP Admin guide for details).
But, also with this method you need one backup spec. for each client.
