HP StorageWorks Ultrium 460 Tape reset problem ??

I have HP Stroge Works Ultrium 460 Ext. Tape Drive and connect Dell PowerEdge 2600 Series Server (SCSI Card Information : Adaptec AHA-2940UW PCI) Backup Sowftware Ntbackup.exe Server Operation System : Windows 2003 Std. Edt.

My Problem is : Ntbackup starting backup mounting tape so starting backup processing reseting server, I have looking and searching event viewer but no any error this trouble. HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools scanning proceses again reset Server. Please How to cause this reset problem. Terminator Led is green light on.

It's verry small.

My suggestion is:

Check all cables, update the drivers an Firmware from the Adaptec.

where hangs the Win2k System HDD's? Same Controller?

Can you try another controller?

i again.

the Adaptec is an ultra-verrry-old SE(8bit) controller with max 40MB/s.

The Ultrium makes 160MB/s,

thats verry underperform to use this controller.

I think that's no good idea to connect the Ultrium on this controller.

By an certified controller Card for these Ultrium.

I agree 100% with Mann, you should not use this HBA with a LTO II drive, it will limit a lot the bandwith and will cause problems. I also think that this controller and his drivers are not able to manage the scsi3 command used for LTO2

I have change to SCSI card (Adaptec 29160)retry test and again reset problem, If Server SCSI cable unplug in SCSI card run LTO2 Tape Tools again reset my server

maybe IRQ-problems?

change the PCI-Slot(Bus-Master ready) for testing

Take the newest driver and firmware fot the adaptec and the newest TTL from HP.

can you test the adaptec with a normaly SCSI-HDD?
