Re: HP Storageworks 1/8 LTO2 Autoloader

BE error = Generic Drive response error
Cycle power on the autoloader and attempt the
operation again.

Is there a tape stuck in the drive?

If powercycle does not clear the message, I would recommend flashing the firmware to try and recover the error.

Flash firmware ithe HP StorageWorks Library & Tape Tools (LTT)

Re: HP Storageworks 1/8 LTO2 Autoloader

Hi Jaclyn and thanks for the reply, unfortunately the error is a 'BD' error not BE as I originally stated.

Sorry for messing you about!

Andrew;

LOL, No Problem. BD error is not good.

BD = No connection to drive
Cycle power on the autoloader and attempt the
operation again.

When I see this error it is usually due to 3 things.
1) Stuck tape
2) Dropped Leader
3) SCSI BUS error message

Drive will eventually stop responding to erroneous commands if it happens enough times.

Try this:
1) Disconnect the AL from teh server SCSI cable
2) Powercycle the AL on it's own
3) do you get the error message?
4) can you unload the tape from the drive?
