HP SureStore Autloader 1/9 error
Hi,
We are having terrible problems with our HP Autoloader 1.9 and wonder if anyone can confirm that the unit has a hardware problem. We are receiving the following "code 63, qualifier 121 sequence 54,53,124,125,107. We've checked the tape path but suspect the tape pick up and release is failing. At the moment is continues to display no available drives online.
Any help would be appreciated. Meanwhile we are sourcing a new backup device as the warranty has expired on the Autloader 1/9.
Thanks

Re: HP SureStore Autloader 1/9 error
You are correct, the drive is not releasing the tape, and is not comming on-line.
here is the decode of the errors that confirm this:
code 63
63 3FH Failed to unload a
tape from a drive.
Note the error code qualifier to help determine
appropriate testing.
Qualif 121
121 79H DLT only. Drive failed to respond
to unload request.
â ¢ Attempt a front panel
unload.
â ¢ If fails, use front panel
emergency unload.
sequ 54,53,124,125,107.
54 36H Translate left.
53 35H Translate right.
124 7CH Get drive pre-plunge.
125 7DH Get drive saturate.
107 6BH Plunge wait drive eject.
If the unit have warranty expired, you can try to unload manualy the tape and see if something is damaged, but the big problem is to see why the drive do not appear online in the library via the control panel.
Try to put it off-line and then online again, via the online repair menu
Also LTT may be used to diagnose the problem.
