HP SureStore DLT 418 mystery error message

When I power up my C6280F SureStore DLT 418 tape library, after a few seconds it displays "ZADR ERR" and will not respond to front panel or SCSI commands. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on with it? This error isn't mentioned in the service manual.

What you are seeing is an exception from the 68000 family microprocessor that controls the SCSI interface and general autoloader operation. Typically it means something has gone wrong in the hardware. If you disconnect the host SCSI cable (but keep the terminator) and it still fails in this manner, than the hardware is bad. SCSI interface problems (i.e. loose connections, missing termination) can occasionally cause the the processor to run into exceptions as well.
