HP SureStore E DLT Autoloader 818 error - "cleaning tapes installed"

Greetings all. I have a Surestore 818 autoloader with a DLT8000 drive in it. For the second time in 6 months the backup software drive is telling me I have cleaning tapes installed...so it looks like another dead drive.

Is it possible to put a Super DLT drive in this library? I figure why waste time replacing a slow drive with another slow drive if I don't have to. Thank you.

No the SDLT will not work in the 818. there are a few other cost effective options.

Try speaking to these guys. they will have a recon option at a good cost.
