HP SureStore Tape Autoloader 1/9 - Event ID 21 (Library saw SCSI bus reset event)
Hi to all,
I have one strange problem with HP Surestore Autoloader 1/9. Our customer have reported that drive have problem to read and write. Drive was tested, and changed.
After change firmware have been uploaded to latest version (2710 for library,E3BR for tape).
Tape have then work about 4 days, and after that, we have start to received errors
HARD ERROR
Code 76, Qualifier 21
Failed to perform an inventory check: Translate control system detected an over force.
I have then change robotic, and whole box, and problem is same. upgrade firmware again ...
Then I have start to receive errors:
Library Hard Error LogEntry Timestamp Description Command Attempted FRU List
1 05/04/11 15:15 Failed to perform an inventory check , Command sent to drive failed (76, 106) Initialize Element 27, 1, 3
2 05/04/11 15:10 Failed to perform an inventory check , Command sent to drive failed (76, 106) Initialize Element 27, 1, 3
3 05/04/11 15:06 Failed to perform an inventory check , Command sent to drive failed (76, 106) Initialize Element 27, 1, 3
4 05/04/11 14:58 Failed to unload tape from drive , Drive communication error (63, 105) Move from Drive 1 to Slot 1 2, 27, 1
I am asuming that it is possible that problem is with terminator or short cable that connects tape and library. Also It is possible that I have received DOA part ... :S
Here is what I am want to change to be sure:
C9520-69102 Ultrium 100/200GB Low Voltage Differential SCSI drive module
490348-001 Low Voltage Differential (LVD) SCSI terminator - Has 68-pin high density (M) connector with thumbscrews
C7145-61601 SCSI interconnect cable with thumbscrews on both ends - Has high density 68-pin (M) connectors - 26.5cm (10.4-in) long - SCSI jumper cable - Between drive Module and Autoloader
Logs in attach.

Re: HP SureStore Tape Autoloader 1/9 - Event ID 21 (Library saw SCSI bus reset event)
AFAIR connecting a library to the
HBA Model: Smart Array 6i Controller (Media Driver)
is not supported, even this is sometimes working.
You need another SCSI HBA!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
