Re: HP SureStore Tape Autoloader 1/9
The qualifier 89 indicates that the transport (or picker) is losing power.
Update your autoloader firmawre to the latest version, if it's not (because there are additional recoveries for picker power loss).
Then run 100 loops of the "Normal full sweep" test via the front panel. That will help clean up any oxide on the brush tracks.

Re: HP SureStore Tape Autoloader 1/9
What version of firmware do you have currently? You can check it from the front panel.
You can obtain firmware from HP's support website, along with the diagnostic tool to update firmware. If you have the Remote Management Card, you can also use that to update the autoloader code.
At www.hp.com, click on:
support
storage
tape storage
HP Autoloaders
HP tape autoloader 1/9 series
Then select "download drivers and software", select a supported OS, and then you can download the LTT diagnostic tool and the firmware bundle.
To recover your password, you will need to call HP.
