I have a HP SurestorDLT1 and am repeatedly getting "Backup Job cancelled" and /or "Backup Job Failed". I am using ARCserve2000 Advanced and have hardware compression turned on ( ...or atleast all indications are that I do) I am trying to backup about 50-60GB of data and the logs indicate that the job always stops after having copied around 40GB of data which to me sounds suspiciously like compression is turned off. Here's Summary of log:
---------------------------------
Totals For.................... Job
Total Sessions................ 20
Total Directories............. 81,195
Total Files................... 549,847
Total Databases............... 2
Total Skips................... 4
Total Size (Disk)............. 25,909.08 MB
Total Size (DB)............... 13,450.05 MB
Total Size (Media)............ 41,112.37 MB
Elapsed Time.................. 7h 42m 50s
Average Throughput............ 88.76 MB/min
Total Errors/Warnings......... 0/10
------------------------------------------
Backup Operation Cancelled.
Tried using compression in ARCserve but yielded thismessage when doing so -
" --- W3032 Compression is disabled due to hardware data compression."
THis would show that HW compression is turned
on. Anyone have any ideas as to why this job contiues to fail/incomplete? Thanks!!!

Solution
If it fails every time, but has always worked successfully before (assuming no changes have been made to the environment or any configuration):
I can think of 1 or 2 issues:
#1) Disk/file structure is corrupt:
a) run a disk/file integrity routine to check for errors in the disk of file structure.
b1) identify the approximate location where the last file is successfully saved.
b2i) select only those files in that ├в area├в and try to back them up...
or
b2ii) start from the point of the last file successfully saved and see if the save process will continue until the save process is complete.
#2) Something about the configuration of the backup program has been corrupted and may need to be

Re: HP SurestorDLT1 using ARCserve2K: Backup operation cancelled
As much as I did not like having to re-install ARCserve I did as I thought this to be the least time-consuming. Ths has in fact fixed the problem and I award you the points for providing the solution. Thanks!
