HP Surestore dat 24 needs cleaning every other day

I am having a problem with our tape drive needing to be cleaned every other day which is causing the backup to fail every other night. I am running the drive on NT 4.0 Server. Model # C15560. I run a cleaning tape and reset cleaning statistics, but that does not help except for one night. Let me know if you need more information. Thanks in advance for any help!

Eric, try running the cleaning tape 5 times in a row. Typically the DAT needs to be cleaned once/per week or every 20 hours of tape pulling. how long do your back up jobs take?

The backup usually runs for about 3 to 3.5 hours. I will test out the multiplt cleaning. If you have any other advice, it would be appreciated. Thanks very much!
