HP surestor 24 (prod id#c1556d)
I am unable to create a cleaning job in veritas' backupexec, apparently because it cannot detect the tape drive as a listed devicein windows NT server 4.0 SP4(backupexec has been able to backup to it). When I checked for the tape device driver in devices, I noticed that the 4mmdat is listed as system startable, however, when I attempt to manually start it I get an error and am unable to start the driver. The error I get is telling me that another device is disabled, however, it does not say what specific device(that would be too easy, after all). My question is what, if any, device dependencies exist for this tape drive in the devices control panel applet. I don't know how the drivers got to be in the state that they are in, but half the drivers listed in devices are disabled. Oh, and for the record, the native backup in windows nt does show the tape, just not the drive itself (keep in mind that my goal is to get the drive listed in hope that then it will be found in backupexec in order to create a tape clean job).
I hope that I gave enough info to answer this question, if not, just let me know.
Thanks for your help.
El.
