HP35480A blocksize and capacity
Hi,
I'm struggling to get full capacity (2gb uncomp) on the HP35480A DDS-1 drive under Linux (2.4.18 kernel).
I've tried using star with a blocksize of 1024 but it still fills the tape after dumping about 1.4gb.
I'm suspecting blocksize, but am open to any other thoughts / ideas.
Many thanks,
Ian Steel

Re: HP35480A blocksize and capacity
Hello Ian,
look at the tape where 'write protect' tab is located. What do you see: 60 or 90? I took the cover paper from the tape's protective casing and looked at it: I saw DDS1/60m=1.3GB, DDS1/90m=2.0G.
So your result of 1.4GB capacity means that you have 60m tape

Re: HP35480A blocksize and capacity
I've just bought a box of 10 x 90m HP dat tapes so they should be 90m - but I'll check them more closely.
Ian.
