I tried to upgrade the firmware revision of my DLT Tape Library both via LTT and STM to version 15.20.
The process fails at 53% of completion with the following error:
The following sense data was returned by the device:
Sense Key: 0x05 (ILLEGAL REQUEST)
Additional Sense Code/Qualifier: 0x26/00
Error Description:
The device received an invalid parameter list.
Revision of firmware on the device (SCSI Media Changer) is unchanged.
The firmware update for device at 8/0.0.0 was not completed.
Any hint on how to complete succefully the process?
Thanks,
Roberto.

Re: HPSuretore E 1/20 firmware upgrade failure.
The file version LTT uses is LTT_C7200-8000_1220.frm.
I enclose to the post the log file generated.
The error, with LTT, happens as soon as it starts downloading the "Controller" part of the firmware.
Thanks,
Roberto.

Re: HPSuretore E 1/20 firmware upgrade failure.
You mean 1.02?
If it is so, you have to upgrade it FIRST to 1.22, and then to 1.52...
Quoting:
If a Galactica library is at 1.14.x or lower they MUST update to firmware revision 1.22 before going to 1.25.x or higher.
Unquoting.

Vince

Re: HPSuretore E 1/20 firmware upgrade failure.
yes, you're right. I put the dots in the wrong positions. Anyways I got an error also if I try to upgrade to version 1.22.0!
LTT, in fact, allows me to upgrade only to 1.22.0 but, as I said, it fails!

Re: HPSuretore E 1/20 firmware upgrade failure.
I attach the file EventLog.ltt.zip to this post. Hope it works now!
Thanks,
Roberto.

Re: HPSuretore E 1/20 firmware upgrade failure.
Try to run the "Recalibrate library" test, then try to run the "Test Lateral Encoder" test.

Re: HPSuretore E 1/20 firmware upgrade failure.
It is very likely that you have one of a very few early library controller boards that do not have enough memory for firmware newer than 1.22.
An LTT support ticket will list it under "Device Analysis" if that is the case.
HP will replace your controller board if that is the problem. If that is the problem and you have any trouble send an LTT support ticket to ltt_team@hp.com with a message indicating the problem and we will take care of it.
