Hardware Compression
I have just purchased and installed a Compaq 40/80 GB DLT drive. The unit is mounted in an external Storage enclosure running on a Compaq Proliant 1600 server with NT 4.0 Server SP6.0a installed, and Backup Exec 8.0 build 3316. The unit works fine except whenever a tape is inserted rather than display the hardware compression LED. It is turned off. The Backup Software has hardware compression enabled and shows in the backup log that it is enabled, however, at <40GB the backup software is calling for a second tape. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Hardware Compression
What type of cartridge are you using? You'll only get 40/80GB with a DLTIV cartridge. If you're using DLTIII cartridge it only has capacity of 15/30GB.

Re: Hardware Compression
DLT IV. I have tried with old cartridges that have been Erased and with several brand new DLT IV cartridges.
