Hardware Error
We use an old windows 95 pc to do our network backups which so far has worked pretty well. Until a few days ago when we started to recieve the error "The backup device reported an unrecoverable hardware error. Please insert another media to continue". We try other tapes with the same error everytime we initate a backup.
Thanks

Re: Hardware Error
At least tell us the type of device and model you have the error on (e.g. DDS, DLT, library, etc).
The journey IS the reward.

Re: Hardware Error
I would try to 1st use a good cleaning tape/cartridge then a new tape. 2nd if that does not work I would reboot that pc/device
and if that does not work i would place a
service call to have that device replaced.
I am familier with DDS and DLT devices in a
HP3000 and HP9000 environment.
Good Luck.
