Help! Debian 4.0 & Ultrium 1840 SAS
Hi there,
I've got an Ultrium 1840 SAS running with Debian 4.
It appears to be backing up files and then drops out with:
tar: /dev/st0: Cannot write: Input/output error
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
Experimenting with different block sizes seems to make this happen sooner or later. I've tried different media and HP have replaced the drive but to not avail.
Anyone any ideas?
Thank you,
Jon

Hi J,
yes i have a guess, but you might not like it.
Check this out please: http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/software/14-0003-0002.html#matrixtable
It's a compatibility issue acc. to me.
The OS is not supported.
Best regards
