Hot swap LTO
I have a hot swap LTO drive, that I have just put into my server in a tape array. I have put in this same tape drive just 2 days ago. Today I can not get the ioscan to return the tape drive. I have even rebooted my server. Is there anything else I can do to try to get it to see the tape drive?

Re: Hot swap LTO
Have power cycled the tpae drive / enclosure? Have you checked the cables and termination?
It sounds like you may have just run into a bad batch of drives or you may have other problem with the tape array.

Re: Hot swap LTO
Last time this happened to me a scsi cable had gone bad.
I don't know why they go bad, especially when nonbody touches them, but they do.

Re: Hot swap LTO
Angela,
Check the SCSI id of the drive. If it conflicts with another device on the same bus for example the DVD drive, it may not show up in an ioscan even after a reboot.
Cheers,
Joseph.
