How can I find the HPUX tape drive?
Dear all,
I'm a beginner of HPUX User. I find it is difficulties to discover the tape drive when installing OS without the connection of tape drive. There is nothing output when using ioscan command. Now I try to add the stape diver via SAM however it still doesn't work
Any steps for installing the HP tape drive after the OS installation
Thanks.

Re: How can I find the HPUX tape drive?
Hello,
Which tape drive is this? How are you connecting it? Where are you connecting it?
Usually, if you do:
ioscan -fnC tape
the output will bring a tape drive out. what does the above command bring out?
HTH,
Vince

Re: How can I find the HPUX tape drive?
Connect drive to server. Run 'ioscan -fn' to see if tape is seen. It will be seen even if stape driver is not in the kernel. Add stape driver to kernel, recompile it and reboot. After this drive's status in ioscan becomes CLAIMED and DEVICE.
If drive, when conected to server, is not seen by 'ioscan -fn' at all then there's connectivity problem: check if drive is functional, SCSI cable is not damaged and bus is terminated at the both ends with correct type of terminators
