How to choose directory using script

My system:
Linux SUSE Enterprise Server 11 SP1
HP Data Protector Express Basic 6.0
HP StorageWorks Ultrium 920

Backup Directory Structure:
2012-05-01
0212-05-02
0212-05-03
2012-05-04

NOTE: Use rsync created with hard link.

I want to select current directory date (ext. 2012-05-04) write to Tape. How to create script on DPE6 to auto choose current directory backup?
