How to create a firmware update tape for a Surestore DAT 40i?

After a firmware upgrade from version C111 to version C305, a Surestore DAT 40i unit (C5686a) stopped responding. Now, at boot, it is neither recognized as SCSI device, nor it appears in Device Manager of Windows 2000.
I have heard about "firmware update tapes" to be used to restore firmware.
Does anyone know how to do this or any other way to make DAT 40 working again?
Thank you.

In the past, if I remember well TapeAssure was the tool that allowed you to build a FUT. Now, I know that with L&TT under test there is a script that allow this at least for DLT80 and SDLT, you have to check with DLT40

Thank you Marino for your help. I'm sorry for my long absence.....
I tried to find some useful script to build a firmware update tape for DAT40i, but I didn't find it.
The tape unit seems to work, it loads tapes, I can successfully clean the drive using the clean tape.
It is simply invisible on the SCSI bus.
Do you think is there any chance to make it working again?
Please, note that the warranty is expired.
Do you know if the flash rom is socketed and I can flash it again using a standard stand-alone eprom programmer?
Best regards.

Re: How to create a firmware update tape for a Surestore DAT 40i?

There is no Firmware Upgrade Tape available outside HP for DAT40.
And there is no flash memory on socket for what I known on the DAT40.
If the DAT is responding to front panel commands, try to push the eject button for more that 5 sec, or try to ppush three time in rapid sequence.
These actions may reset the unit, and make it operative again.
Also be sure to replace cable and HBA to be sure it is not a communication problem.
Check it the unit enquiry string appear at boot time, and in the HBA bios.
Reset also HBA to bios default, and use a supported HBA for testing.

I will try to push the eject button, but I already powered off/on the unit without benefit.
What sounds bad is that I can't seen anymore the unit enquiry string at boot time. As I already wrote the unit is completely invisible on the SCSI bus....
