How to find whether HP tape drive dds-3 compatible?

How can I know whether a tape drive is dds-2 or dds-3 compatible.

If you have to check tape drive specifications, it should have mentioned whether tape to be used is dds2 or dds3

It it says dds-3 and it uses the scsi connection its probably compatible.

This drive has drivers and instructions for HP-UX

If you don't mind used, you can find lots of them on the open market because lots of hp-9000 systems with dds-3 tape drives are being de-commissioned.

if it is hp tape drive get the model number
eg: C1554C

go to http://www.partsurfer.hp.com/

select your country and search with the model number.

you can get the model number by ioscan -fnC tape command.

'ioscan -funC tape' will return model number (e.g. C5683A). Then you can grep for this model number in /usr/sam/lib/C/pd_devinfo.tx. That should return DDS capacity/type.
