How to setup MSL6030 with FC interface and DP 5.5 on a SAN

hi to all,
I must to configure for the first time in my life an MSL6030 with FC interface, Data Protector 5.5 in a SAN:
the environment is:

- EVA3000
- DP 5.5 on DL380 storage server as EVA mgmt
appliance with FC2214DC HBA
1 x DP 5.5 License for SAN
- 4 x Novell servers on a SAN
- MSL6030 with 1 drive
- 2 x 8 ports FC switches

This is a new installation and is possible to make all possible configurations and tests.

I've correctly installed DP but autodiscovery doesn't found any library.

SAN doesn't have zones configured.

Does anyone helps me to find the right steps to configure the library ?

thanks in advance
Davide

I would first check the LUN mapping in the NSR (network storage router) that is embedded in the tape library.

You can do that through the serial port (but watch out: the cables between the MSL and the NSR are not interchangeable), telnet or the web interface.

Hi,
I'm reading the "NSR e1200-160 User Guide", but I'm not familiar with the working method of NSR.
May anyone give some real example of configuration ?
All servers must to have Data Protector Media Agent installed to use the library ?

I've attached a simple network scheme of my environment.

thanks a lot

Re: How to setup MSL6030 with FC interface and DP 5.5 on a SAN

I have successfully configured the router and the library on Data Protector (with "try and error" method).

I have configured automatic discovery on link up and filled an indexed map on router.

At this point windows server has discovered new hardware (the router) and Data Protector has seen the library

Now I must do the same with netware servers with DP disk/media agents.
