Information for a DAT drive

We have a Compaq DAT tape backup, 4-tape autoloader that we need to make it work. We need information on this unit and the only print on the unit is Compaq Series 3300 which we have searched but found nothing on Compaq site. Please direct me to the right place, thanks.

Re: Information for a DAT drive

Is there a part number (bound to be) like "123456-001" or similar? What OS are you going to use it with?

There is no such number. We are trying to use it for Windows NT 4.0 server.

Re: Information for a DAT drive

If you have already received an answer, then sorry to waster your time. My 4/8 is also marked as a Series 3300. After removing the case and checking the drive I found that it is a Connor Archive Model 4586NP. (Compaq Number: 199466-01)

Backup Exec should work for you under NT4, be sure to update to service pack 6.0a BEFORE installing the Backup Exec though or you may get some weird random errors.

If you did not have your answer yet, I hope this helped! If you had your answer already, sorry to take your time.

Thank you George. The latest Rompaq for the unit is SP16275.
