Internal AIT drive error
Hi,
Last week one of our internal AIT drives died and was replaced in our Compaq StorageWorks 2020SSL It was repaced with a Compaq part with a Sony sticker on it, since then both the tapes are appearing offline in Insight Manager both drives our "Compaq AIT 50 LDRV" but have different firmware versions "1.33" & "1.35". Could this be the reason for the drives appearing offline and is so how do I update the firmware on the other drive.

Re: Internal AIT drive error
Hi Ralph:
By far the easiest way to update the bios on tape drives is with the HP Libray Tape Tools:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software2/COL1977/co-16463-1/hp_ltt34_win.exe
This link is to the Windows Version...
You can use this to update the drive directly attached (SCSI) or on some models, create a Bios Update Tape. These tools have many other features which i am sure you will dig too!
I hope this helps?
-John
