With the next generations of LTO coming out in the future, will the media have to be changed? So far what I have discovered is that LTO Generation 1 through 3 will you Metal Particle media. Does this mean when Generation 3 become available you can use the same media that you did for generation 1? Looks like SDLT generation 1 through 4 all require a media change to move up to the next generation..

Hi Wayne,
I think that future generations of LTO will be backward compatible with earlier generations of LTO.
This is not different from the other major tape technologies in the market namely DLT and DDS.
