LTO3 drive and LTO2 tapes

Hello

Hopefully a quick question with a quick answer! We have LTO2 drives and lots of LTO2 tapes. We are looking at getting a LTO3 drive. If we backup on the LTO3 drive with LTO2 tapes, is it possible to restore using the LTO2 drive? OS=2003 server, backup program=backup exec 9.1 (storagetek l40 robot)

Thanks

Re: LTO3 drive and LTO2 tapes

Yes, because it would be fatal if a LTO3 drive would write a LTO2 tape in a different way. Standards are made for this...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Thanks for the reply, that answered my question perfectly. Just checking as I've had problems in the past with DLT drives!
