Library Hard Error Log on DLT8 Library P ID: C7200-8000

Hi All,
I am getting following Error code on DLT8000 Library with 6 nos of drive.

Any Idea why it is happening ?

Looks like a picker/transport problem. Try to reboot the lib first and see if the picker is moving. You can also get a support ticket from the box using LTT.

Hi,

I have rebooted library for number of times.
after reboot it is working fine for 20-25 hours,

then again it display's error. I have copy pasted detail error code.

1: Clear the tape path
2: Check host is idle, and power cycle the library

The destinations are different drives, but the source is always slot 3. Try to remove the tape from this slot manually and inspect the tape and slot.
You can also perform some movement test from LTT.

This error code, Plunge control system detected an over-voltage, always occurs during a get from an element or a put into the next element. The specific error indicates that the servo system had to apply too much voltage to keep the plunge system moving but it was moving suggesting high friction. The error would have been "over-force" if the plunge system was unable to move.

As has already been pointed out slot 3 is always the source so check and make certain that the tape in slot 3 moves easily in and out of the slot. Also check labeling as this error can occur when somebody puts a label on the top of a tape and it drags going into the drive.

There are some values called "micro-move error codes" that can pinpoint exactly where in the get/put process the error is happening if you can't find it with this information.
