ML350G4p ntbackup An inconsistency was found in the requested media
Hi All,
I'm getting the following error when backing up files local to the machine:
Error: An inconsistency was encountered on the requested media.
When retoring with the same tape I get this error:
Error: The device reported an error on a request to seek to a logical media address.
Error reported: Bad data.
There may be a hardware or media problem.
Machine: HP ML350 G4p
Tape Drive: Internal HP LTO Ultrium 2
Backup S/W: ntbackup via script
OS: Win Server 2K3 SP2
Other details: Latest proliant service pack installed including latest tape drive F/W and drivers.
I've deleted the RSM database, re formatted all my tapes etc.
The HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools tells me the drive and media are working ok.
I'm backing up <200GB of data onto a single tape library.
Any ideas as to what is going on here would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me nuts!!
Cheers
Andrew

Sorry I should have added that the drive is Ultrium 2-SCSI.
Also as another test I have hooked up an external HP Lynx DAT drive to the same server and it works fine.
