MSL 2024 and Backup Exec 10.d
Removing a tape from the mail slot is a bit of a challenge.
According to symantec, you need to unlock the drive.
that does not always work. Get a drive is in use or other error, but it is not unlocking the drive.
Anyone had this happen to them?

Re: MSL 2024 and Backup Exec 10.d
Now this is quite a familiar issue with MSL Generation 3 libraries when they are being used by Backup Exec. Apart from the PMR bit (Prevent Media Removal Bit) which is set on the drive causing the drive to not allow the Cartridge to be released, there is another thing which I found in the Backup exec registry settings. Follow the steps below and I sure this will fix the issue.
To prevent locking, add the following value to the registry:
HKLM\software\Symantec\Backup Exec for Windows\Adamm\Disable Library Door Lock=1
Let me know about the results..
Regards
Sunny

Re: MSL 2024 and Backup Exec 10.d
HKLM\software\Symantec\Backup Exec for Windows\
There is no \Adamm branch there, but
I also have
HKLM\software\VERTIAS\adamm
Should I add it there?

Re: MSL 2024 and Backup Exec 10.d
I searched and Searched, but have not got any info on the Bacvkup exec 10.D. I would suggest you to backup the registry... Make the change with the registry under VERITAS and then check the library locking behavior.
Please do let me know about the results.
Cheers,
Sunny
