MSL 4048 randomly rebooting

Only happened twice so far but our library has randomly rebooted twice over the last 3 weeks. Only thing HP support can offer at this point is to upgrade the firmware. As far as I can tell, 8.40 is the latest released although support said to upgrade to 8.80 which doesn't seem to exist.

The libary and tape tools recommends upgrading to 8.20 which was apparently pulled from release.

I've checked the release notes, there's no mention of a fix for rebooting so I am guessing the update won't do anything.

Anyone experience these random reboots?

First update to 8.80.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/information_storage/software/ltt/firmware/MSL4048_8.80.frm

If the issue still appears, consider to have a bad library controller.

Hope this helps!

Re: MSL 4048 randomly rebooting

Thanks for the reply. I plan on upgrading to the latest firmware however according to the release note my robotics firmware is not supported. Robotics FW is 3.10e and the release notes state 8.80 only supports robotics FW 3.20e.
