Through the Drive/Cartridge Compatability Information button in hp StorageWorks library and tape tools - I can see that it's compatible with Ultrium 400GB tapes (C7972A).
So far, so good. So when we ordered this, we asked for a full set of tapes for it as well, and we did recieve 24x C7972A tapes. Load up the magazines and try to move a tape to the drive and get an error message stating that the cartridge is incompatible with the drive.
Every single one of the 24 tapes are said to be incompatible.
The library itself shows up just fine everywhere in software and behaves like it should. I'm able to move around the tapes within the library, but can't get them into the drive.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Christian Davidsson

Re: MSL2024 - incompatible with Ultrium 400GB cartridges!?
This tape media should always be compatible with this library.
Even a LTO4 should be able to read a LTO-2 tape.
Can you post a LTT support ticket?

Solution"An LTO 3 tape or a tape with a label ending in "L3" was found in slot ..., element 0x03FF, with barcode WS1981L3 but no drives that can read LTO 3 tapes were found. LTO 3 tapes can be read by LTO 3 drives."
If you have LTO-2 tapes, then you have a wrong set of labels.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: MSL2024 - incompatible with Ultrium 400GB cartridges!?
Missed that part completely, had a look at the label pack that we recieved and very true - it's LTO3 labels that we've been sent instead.
Configured the library to ignore media type from the barcodes, and it could load up the tapes just fine.
Thank you very much for your help on this issue.
