Re: MSL2024

Hello exo...

The error messsage is probably because there might be a dropped cartridge or an obstruction in the movement of the robot. Please remove the magazines to check if the tapes are seated correctly in the slots. If they are then suggest that you run a wellness test from the front panel of the library. If it fails then a chassis replacement is necessary

Re: MSL2024

there is nothing blocking the drive at this time,  there was a piece of the tape stuck in the drive this has been removed

but the error is still present , would you have any other thoughts to share on this error?

Re: MSL2024

The error is to vague.

tape stuck in the drive has it snapped it? there maybe tape on the spool, but the casing is in its slot

that or probably a picker fault,  would need replacing

Re: MSL2024

anything that would have obstructed the tape functions have been removed the broken piece of tape is no longer there

so what is actually happening is the robot places the tape in the drive and just before the tape is going to be read the tape is ejected and then the error is recieved. error 63 second slider failure

Re: MSL2024

LTO's normally instantly eject tape when either the tape leader isnt attached and if it detects wrong media or possibly if the head itself is stiff.

if the drive has snapped a tape then there still tape on the spool and the leader wont be attached.

can you see if the drive is actually coming ready

Re: MSL2024

when the drive  first comes up it comes up  as ready yes, both from the web app and the Light on the drive is green until the tape is rejected the you get a yellow light on the drive itself

Re: MSL2024

If there was a piece of tape stuck in the drive it is very likely that the leader has become disconnected.  That sounds like there was a broken tape at some point in the past.

Use the library web interface and pull a copy of the tape drive logs then post them here and we should be able to find more information.  If the tape drive LED is turning yellow then the drive detected something wrong.

Re: MSL2024

Those errors are more evidence that the drive is having problems but aren't helpful for figuring out what problems the drive is having. In the library web interface if you go to the "support" tab, the "support ticket" option under than, select the "current" radio button and "Download" - that should give you a drive log that will have better information about what the drive is actually doing.

If you want to look at drive logs you need the HPE Library and TapeTools utility.
