MSL4048 3000 SAS library connected to SC44GE
Running DP 6.2 on Win2008R2-64bit on DL380 with SC44Ge card, DP see the tape drive on the MSL, but not library. We only have a point to point cable Infiniband SFF8470 to 1 x mini SAS SFF8088 until correct cable arrives. Could the cable case the issue

Re: MSL4048 3000 SAS library connected to SC44GE
Do you have the latest HP drivers installed for the SC44Ge?
How many drives are in the library? The cable you describe sounds like the standalone tape drive cable which is fine for a single drive library but not for a multiple drive library.
The cable should be OK for device discovery if it is connected to the drive that is hosting the library controller.
What do you see in Device Manager?
It is possible to configure the libraries to use "sequential" mode and in that mode DP won't see the library. You could use the library network interface and pull a library support ticket then post it here and we could verify that the library is all configured correctly.

Re: MSL4048 3000 SAS library connected to SC44GE
Hi,
Can you check also that you tape drive is recognized as drive 1.
You can check this on the web page of the library.
If your drive is recognized as drive 2 it has no robotics control and i wil not show the library in you backup software.
If it is the case, shutdown the library, move the drive to the other drive slot, power on the library, reboot backup server and check again.

Your HBA is seen to be compatible, and cable will be ok as the drives are detected.
Check the library is in the Sequential mode.
( Configuration > Autoloader behaivior )
If yes, then change to 'Automatic/Random' Mode.
power cycle the library and check for the drive availability.
