MSL4048 LTO-5 firmware update.
I am having trouble trying to update firmware on a LTO-5 (Ultrium 3000 HH) drive in a partitioned MSL4048 autoloader.
The only firmware I can find includes the word 'standalone' in the filename (LTT_Ultrium_5-SCSI_Z3ED_STANDALONE.frm). The drives and MSL4048 are connected to two different MACs. I do have L&TT installed on one of the MACs and it does communicate to the dirve.
L&TT will load the firmware to a stand-alone Ultrium 3000 drive, but not the one in the MLS4048.
Not sure what to do next.
Tony

Re: MSL4048 LTO-5 firmware update.
I ran a quick check by selecting the 4048 single drive SAS Ultrium 3000 library on the http://www.hp.com/support website then selecting Windows Server 2008 R2 as the OS just to pick something common. There is a HP Library and TapeTools firmware bundle listed under Drivers and Software which will contain all the various firmware images for the different versions of that product.

Re: MSL4048 LTO-5 firmware update.
There is bug with the latest firmware for LTO5/6 Robotic arm and tape drives...
supporting HP Ultrium LTO 5, HP Ultrium LTO 6 and mixed LTO 5/LTO 6 tape drive environments
There are a few solutions until the new firmware has been created. The easiest one for me is to down grade the Robotic firmware to the previous version....
Currently active firmware versions include:
HP StoreEver MSL2024 Tape Libraries: version 5.70 HP StoreEver MSL4048 Tape Libraries: version 8.10 HP StoreEver MSL8048 Tape Libraries: version 1070 HP StoreEver MSL8096 Tape Libraries: version 1070 HP StoreEver 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloaders: version 3.80
