MSL4048 all tapes write protected

Hello,

we have a strange issue with two MSL4048 with two LTO4 FC drives each.

Afrter some rack rearangement (MSLs powered off and moved) all the tapes are seen by DP 9.05 as write protected. We tried firmware upgrade to 9.60 (even though the LTO4 firmware does not change H6FW) and two more libraries ( 4 libs, 8 drives all together on 4 cell servers) started seeng tapes as write protected.

L&TT reports a problem loading the mediums.

Any ideas are well appreciated.

4 libraries detecting the tapes as write protected mean it is something on the tape, Are you using any Encryption key for the same.Also can you test a brand NEW tape and check if that also goes to write protected.

If the issue continues with the New tapes then get a case logged to us with might have to check the logs to understand the issue.

we do not use encription and brand new tapes have been tried with the same result -Trying to format reults in error message that the tape is write protected.

Please be aware this issue seems to be with DP!!!

Was DP totally reconfigured?

delete all changers and drives and add back in as the "new devices"

I suspect the paths changed in the move so DP will look at all devices as "new"

if the paths changed as we suspect, then DP will not recognize the new devices because it still has paths to original devices.

We finally replaced all of the tape drives.

No need of DP reconfiguration...
