MSL4048 connectivity problem to host HP-UX11.23
Hey gang,
We have a 3 month old MSL4048 with 2 fiber LTO4 drives. The changer is plugged directly to a RX4840 running 11.23 via a dual 4GB fiber card.
A few days ago the device failed after a couple monthes of working fine. We have since replaced the controller card twice, and the chassis, but we are still not able to see the device. An ioscan gives me the following:
fc 0 0/3/1/0 fcd CLAIMED INTERFACE HP AB379-6010
1 4Gb Dual Port PCI/PCI-X Fibre Channel Adapter (FC Port 1)
/dev/fcd0
fc 1 0/3/1/1 fcd CLAIMED INTERFACE HP AB379-6010
1 4Gb Dual Port PCI/PCI-X Fibre Channel Adapter (FC Port 2)
/dev/fcd1
But as you can see we are not even seeing the controller. There are no errors on the changer. The card is showing connectivity. We have swapped the fiber and the drives around to see if there is a problem there, but that all seems to check out.
We have been fighting this for 4 days now and we are no closer to a solution. We cannot even use ltt obviously because we cannot see the drives. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: MSL4048 connectivity problem to host HP-UX11.23
We had a bad controller. The firmware on the new controller needed to be 5.7 or higher. Also, we had to change the config settings from "auto" for detection speed to "4 GB". This fixed our problem.
