MSL5026 with Fiber - need help
I have an MSL5026 tape library that is connected via Fibre and has two 160/320 SDLT drives. I'm using Backup Exec 12.5 as my backup software. A few weeks ago, I started getting lots of failed backups. The backups were failing because of read/write problems. HP has replaced both drives but the problem is still occurring. They say the media is bad but I disagree. Unless 75% of my media failed at the same time (300 or so tapes). I also have a HP SDLT drive in another server. I took one of my tapes that is having problems and tried it in that drive. It wrote to the tape without a problem.
I think I'm having issues with the SCSI backplane in the library but HP insists on sending out two more drives. Has anyone ever had a problem like this before? How do I get HP to send me a new unit? I pay good money for support and am now going on 3 weeks without this getting fixed.
